Version 1.0 Release is Here!


It's been a busy couple of weeks! Since the initial beta release, the absolutely amazing sprite artist MitaTell (Deviantart) (Twitter) has agreed to work on some new girls for the game, and honestly, I couldn't be more thrilled with the new character they came up with! (It puts my own sprite art to shame, tbh)...

The game is not quite in the perfect final state I envisioned quite yet, but it is at least feature complete and (mostly? probably?) free from any big show-stopping bugs now. It'll probably be several weeks before the next update as I catch up on other projects, but planned upcoming features include things like giving you the ability to re-bind the keyboard controls, adding another girl or two, and adding emotes/facial expressions when the girls talk!

Thanks so much to those who pitched a few dollars for the beta release - I really, really appreciate it, and your support played a huge part in getting two new characters for this release! This project is not about money, it's about having more BE games on the internet, but having a few donations here and there helps a LOT when it comes to commissioning new stuff for the project!

Shiny New Things!

  • Added new character Mythril
  • Added new character Valladeau - thanks to MitaTell for the high quality sprite art!
  • Added a new system to the options menu that lets you pick which girls will appear in which order
  • Set up a system that will allow you to edit girls (their details are now located in the sprites/ folder), as well as make your own characters and add them to the game
  • Revised the "game win" screen so it's not so BORING
  • Added movement control so that when you press the "menu down" key, it will cause a game piece to fast-fall without dropping it all the way down to the bottom

Tweaks:

  • Slightly increased the piece falling speed for medium difficulty

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed issue where using the 'drop' key to select 'Resume' from the pause menu would cause the current piece in play to fall accidentally. (How on EARTH did this one make it through earlier testing??)
  • Fixed issue where bringing the pause menu up as a block was being destroyed would cause the game to stop spawning new pills.
  • Fixed issue where occasionally a pill would still be able to spawn during game over
  • Fixed issue where girls would not always 'deflate' on game over (sorry lol)
  • Fixed a REALLY DUMB issue where some debug code didn't get deleted and led the game to always think you finished level 20 with 131,700 points
  • Removed testing code that would give you 1,000 points by pressing a secret hidden dev button (the button was the number 1)

Also, as a side note... if anyone is trying to run the MacOS version of this game and running into difficulties... please let me know! The way MacOS sets up its directory structures is very foreign to me, but I will do my best to see if I can get the build up and running for you!
